Question

Sleep

If you want to sleep in, does you spouse try to keep things quiet or close the door so you can get your rest or do they seem to make ALL the noise they could possibly make?

Do you give your mate the quiet they need to sleep in?

If you don't try to be as quiet as you can, then why? Why not put forth an effort to let them sleep a little long?

No judgement here. I'm just curious.

Baby Bo Update

It's been awhile since I've update y'all on Bo. He is doing better! The doctors now believe that he doesn't have the rare genetic disorder but still are unsure of what he has. Last I heard, he had some swelling and maybe bleeding on his brain. They were considering surgery to fix that. I don't believe that was necessary. I just got off the phone with Anthony and he said that Bo is doing better. They've run several tests and sent them to California and Ohio. The results should be in between now and next week. If they come back negative, they will run tests on his muscles (I believe that is what Anthony said... he speaks real soft). I didn't ask a whole lot of questions. I just wanted to see how they were doing.

Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. It's not over but it seems that it might be getting better and I truly believe it is because there are SO many people praying for them. I'll keep updating as we hear new things.

Smokey C's is coming along pretty good. We hung our 'Coming Soon' banner, so it's getting closer.

Casey is sick to day and wasn't able to work on it but he needed a break anyway.

Well, time to go jump on the trampoline with DT like I promised. :)

Keep Praying!

Baby Bo isn't doing too well. They found that he has a rare genetic disorder and are flying in an experimental drug from Dallas. However, he has to go through dialysis first and the doctors weren't really optimistic about him even making it through that. I still firmly believe that God can heal Bo and I know that miracles still happen everyday. Please keep praying. I'll update again as soon as we learn more.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

Update...

Haven't really heard much about little Bo except they seem to have him stabilized. The doctors are still unsure of what is wrong but at least he seems better. They are going to continue to run tests and also make sure he hasn't had a stroke. The doctors did say they don't believe it was a stroke but want to be sure. Please keep praying.
Thanks!

Help!

Please pray for Casey's friend Anthony again. Yesterday they had their little boy but he was early. They found out this week that Kellie didn't have a lot of fluid around the baby, so they pumped her full of fluids but they didn't work. They decided yesterday to go ahead and do a c-section. I just got a call from Anthony and he was so upset. All he could say was "pray for Bo, something is wrong and they don't know what it is". So I'm asking everyone to please pray for this little baby and his family. They have been through so much. Please ask anyone and everyone to pray for them. I know God can help and heal Bo and Anthony and his family. Thank you so much!

Hopefully, I'll have a good update very soon.

One of these days, son.

This morning, while I was sleeping, my husband and my son were having a very interesting conversation. Casey was doing his early morning business and Dylan was in there talking to him. Their conversation went as follows:

Dylan: "I want hair right there."
Casey: "Right where, son?"
Dylan: "Right there." as he pointed to Casey's lower abdominal area.
Casey: "One of these days, son."
Dylan: "On my peter."
Casey: "Yeah, I get it son."

I couldn't help but to laugh.

As Casey is standing here telling me what they said, Dylan is in the background yelling "on my peter". Although its funny, I guess I better go and let him know this just isn't something we talk about right now.

Exciting News!!!

Smokey C's is now official. It's been and will be a family venture. Casey has had this idea for awhile but we were taking our time and researching it b/c none of us had worked in the food service industry before. Well, in the last two months, everything started to fall into place. It has been AMAZING, so amazing that I am going to list some of those amazing things for you:

1~ The building that we purchased used to be a successful bbq place in the past. It's clean, in good condition, and updated. The best part... we got it so cheap. The owner was ready to just get rid of it.

2~ Casey's friend Alex found the smoker we need for half the price it would have cost to buy from the manufacturer AND it was brand new, never used!

3~ We were able to get hooked up with the owner of the bbq place that was in the building a few years back and he still has all the equipment, utensils, pots, pans, ect. and a huge smoker. He is going to sell us all that stuff for a very reasonable price. He is also going to show us where they had the equipment placed in the building. He is super nice!

4~ I don't think any of us has every really worked in a restaurant before, so none of us really knew all the rules and regulations. When we met with the health inspector for an initial walk through of the building before deciding to buy it, he told us of a class he was teaching the very next week. That was the class I just took the test for. I have now been enlightened on the ins and outs of running a safe restaurant... it sure is a lot of info though.

5~ We have connections all over the place. Somebody knows somebody who can do this or that.

There are more, I know. At this time, I cannot think of them all. I will probably list them as I remember them. I feel it is important to 'count your many blessings and name them one by one' and God has blessed us with so many already. We have been able to save both time and money.

I will definitely keep everyone updated on the progress. Right now, we are looking to open about mid-April. YAY!

Yay!

Thank goodness the class is over and the test has been taken. I won't know the results for at least ten days but I feel I knew most of the material covered on the test. What makes me nervous is that a passing grade is an 85.

Well, it has been a long day and I'm very tired. I am so thankful to all those who said a prayer for me. I truly appreciate it. I will post my grade, good or bad, as soon as I get it. Have a good night. I'm going to bed.

Update and Thank Yous

Well, here is an update on my car... it's totaled! If I'm not mistaken, the AC unit was busted up and I believe something else was messed up but I don't recall what it was. Needless to say, the damage was more than the car was worth. All for a piece of gum. The good thing is, no one was hurt. I don't even have whiplash.

******************************

I just wanted to say that God has blessed not only me, but he has been pouring out blessings all over the place these past couple of weeks. I just wanted to share that with everyone. Hopefully, I can share the full extent of his blessings very soon. It's been amazing!

******************************

I was also wondering if everyone could say a quick prayer for me around 2:30 tomorrow. I have the Health Dept. test and I'm kind of nervous. Everyone else that is taking the test, already has prior knowledge when it comes to the food service business but not I. Thank you Vickie for the encouragement. I feel better about it since you told me it wasn't that hard. Still, I could use all the help I can get.

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who reads this thing and also, to those who comment. I really do appreciate it. I hope to keep it updated better.

Life comes at you quick...

....in the form of a little black Honda, or at least it did for me! Yep, I had a wreck and it was so my fault. I was at a stop light and had gotten a piece of gum out, when the light turned green. We all began to go but I looked away for a split second (I know, that's all it takes) and looked back up and there it was, that little black Honda. I was really surprised by how hard I hit it! I really wasn't going that fast because there isn't much space between lights.

So we pull over to assess the damage. Up until then, I had been fine but by the time I parked my car, you guessed it, I was shaking and crying. What a baby! I knew that my car had taken a beating b/c I couldn't see the end of the hood. It was curled under. ugh! Then, the guy, who's car I had rammed into, pointed out that my radiator was busted. Green stuff was running everywhere. His 8 year old son thought it was cool.

Oh yeah, did I mention he had his son in the backseat. He was taking him to school. I've had two wrecks in my life and both times there was a kid in the car and both times that kid comforted me! (The first wreck wasn't my fault... it was weather related) Thankfully, no one was injured in either one. This little boy today was so cute. He reminded me a lot of Dylan. He was very nice and politely asked me a lot of questions. He said that he was going to have something cool to talk about when he got to school. Glad I could help. He also thought it was funny how I made Mt. Dew go into his and his dad's hair. I kinda thought it was funny too. Gotta find something funny in that situation, right?

Anyway, we looked at his car and there were only a few scratches on the bumper. He said there wasn't any reason to call the police (whew... I would have really cried). Then, we exchanged info and Casey came to pick me up. We headed back to the house to wait for the insurance agency. To make an already long story short... I won't have my car back for about two weeks and we won't go into how much it's going to cost to fix it... "like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" (thank goodness!).
